Misc.

I have been here a week and do love the Italian life! God is truly blessing me with this profound and unique experience- I am already so humbled and touched by my time with the Sisters. I cannot wait to see what will unfold over these next eleven weeks. I thank the Lord every night for His love for me and for standing by my side as I enjoy this journey, all to glorify Him.

I have walked at least 7-10 miles a day, exploring every Roman street I can. There is still so much to do, I am trying to pace myself! I have a few girlfriends coming to visit this fall, so I can save a lot of the tourist hot spots for their visits.

I was trying so hard to get a ticket to the AS Roma Champions League game tonight, but no luck. And by "trying so hard" I mean I was sitting in my apartment all alone, hoping someone would read my mind and knock on the door with a pass in hand.... #gogetter (in my defense, I did not feel that great today and didn't have much energy.)

I have decided I am going to take myself on an adventure this weekend... my original plan was to rent a scooter and ride it all over town (a la Audrey in Roman Holiday) but when I told Kath this, she looked at me, rolled her eyes and said "you have lost your damn mind." When I mentioned it to Anita, she gasped and put her hand over her mouth...so I am thinking this idea may have to be pushed to the back-burner until I find myself a friend and I can ride on the back of their scooter... : )

Since the grand scoot voyage is not panning out, I am switching to hopping on a random bus and seeing where it takes me, then exploring that area of Roma for a few hours and coming home. San Pietro is quite easy to get to and everyone knows where it is, so I am not too worried about getting lost. I do realize this could go horribly wrong at some point, stay tuned for a (hopefully) interesting story!!

My friends and family never fail to entertain me...below are some of the requests I have received for Roman gifts:

Jess is the diva who wants the Prada bag (only you Jess ; ) my mom wants me to stop asking for money, my dad wants me to stop buying shoes ; / my grandma wants me to "not go to jail like Amanda Knox" (she actually said this, thanks for the vote of confidence, gma!!) Amy wants a magnet and a scarf, Connor gets a First Communion gift and I will bring home baby items for Kel, Shelb and Ruth. A very sweet and dear friend (who shall go unnamed) wants an Italian man (no, I promise I am not speaking of myself!!) and everyone else will receive a rosary and a donation in their name to the Sisters convent.

xx SJK

  1. I'm glad Katherine & Anita spoke their minds regarding said scooter adventure! The bus sounds abit safer though I confess I have no idea if this is true or not. Ahhh...how could your mom resist from sending you some funds? You're so lovable!
